Event Coordinator

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized person to fill the role of Event Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager –Client Services, the Event Coordinator is the primary liaison/contact with the client and other Prairieland departments to develop a detailed event plan to ensure that we meet and exceed the customer’s expectations for their event. They will work with the client through planning, move-in, showtime, and move-out. Evening, weekend, and holiday work are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain preliminary event information from the Client Services Manager, SalesManager or client
  • Initiate meetings with client to obtain information to support compiling the detail sheet
  • Inform the client of services and equipment Prairieland is able to provide and encourage client to secure these services (upsell)
  • Compile detail sheets and floor plans
  • Prepare and distribute all service orders (i.e. exhibitor sign hanging, Wi-Fi, electrical)
  • Update detail sheets as required to meet client needs; inform other departments of changes

Event Set-Up and Delivery:

      • Orientate the show organizer/client to the facility, explain emergency procedures, fire and safety regulations and monitor the set-up to ensure these regulations are met
      • Ensure set-up is on schedule and all services required are in place
      • Ongoing presence on event floor to monitor electrical, temperature, lighting; communicate with Operations to resolve problems or resolve problems as able
      • Ongoing liaison with show organizer/client and exhibitors during the event to identify needs and take action as required to address problems/concerns promptly
      • Investigate incidents and prepare incident reports; report these incidents to appropriate Prairieland personnel and securityoSupervise service desk if the event requires one
      • Backup support to other Event Coordinators as needed for their events

Post-Event:

      • Debrief event with Prairieland team
      • Compile billing information and submit it for invoice generation
      • Liaise with show organizer/client and exhibitors upon event completion to identify issues and complete post-event reports
      • Ensure the return of keys and radios from the show organizer/client
      • Send customer surveys and monitor the return of completed surveys

Qualifications:

      • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service
      • Strong interpersonal skills – positive attitude, personable, energetic, tactful, professional demeanor
      • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills in a fast-paced environment, detail-oriented
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills and effective listener
      • Team player
      • Knowledge of convention and hospitality industries
      • Experience organizing meetings, banquets, conventions, trade shows, and entertainment events
      • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
      • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation, fire regulations, and emergency procedures
      • Preference will be given to applicants with a completed post-secondary education or equivalent experience in the events and hospitality fields

Banquet Cooks, Concession Cooks, Line Cooks & Prep Cooks

To support our continued growth, the Food & Beverage Department of the World Trade Center Saskatoon at Prairieland currently requires part-time Banquet Cooks, Concession Cooks, Line Cooks and Prep Cooks. These positions have the potential to become full-time.

  • Have previous cooking experience
  • Be able to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays

Banquet Servers  (Casual)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Setting tables for banquets
  • Serving guests
  • Follow up with guests to verify their satisfaction
  • Clear tables
  • Maintain cleanliness of serving floor

To be a successful candidate you must:

      • Must have serving experience
      • Consistently offer professional and friendly customer service
      • Be able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
      • Have an eye for detail and the ability to multi-task
      • Have the ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with guests and co-workers
      • Have the ability to work effectively in a team environment
      • Be mature and dependable
      • Be physically fit
      • Must have previous serving experience serving plated meals
      • If under the age of 16, you must have completed your Young Worker Readiness Certificate
      • Serve It Right Certification is not necessary but is an asset

Supervisor – Sports On Tap  (Full-time)

Sports on Tap at Prairieland Park is hiring a full-time Supervisor.  Applicants must be available to work day, evening and weekend shifts.  Reporting to the Manager – Sports on Tap the Supervisors ensure that a high level of service and a great customer experience are provided.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise food & beverage staff
  • Provide a high level of service of food and drink orders to guests
  • Maintenance of cleanliness on the service floor and serving area
  • Cashier duties
  • Inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

    • Successful applicants must have the Serve it Right course and be able to provide their completion certificate
    • Must be at least 19 years of age
    • Must have a minimum of two years bar and restaurant experience including bartending and serving experience
    • Must have a strong commitment to customer service excellence
    • Must have the ability to communicate pleasantly and professionally with guests and co-workers
    • Be mature and dependable
    • Must be able to lift full kegs of beer (162 lbs.)
    • Must be self-motivated and driven

Bartenders – Sports On Tap  (Part-time)

Sports On Tap at Prairieland Park is hiring bartenders. This is a part-time position with the potential to be full-time.  Applicants must be available to work day, evening & weekend shifts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Maintain inventory and control bar stock
  • Cashier duties
  • General cleaning duties
  • Previous bartending experience is an asset
  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders and preparing them efficiently
  • Keep an eye on patron intoxication levels and respond appropriately

Qualifications:

    • Successful applicants must have the Serve it Right course and be able to provide us with their completion certificate
    • Must be 19 years of age

SaskTel Centre Personnel

Prairieland Park is accepting applications for the following positions at SaskTel Centre:

  • Ushers
  • Merchandise sellers
  • Guest services
  • Door staff

The positions are casual and will include daytime, evening, and weekend shifts (shifts will vary based on events schedule).  When working selling merchandise, doors, and/or guest services, there may be some outdoor shifts required.

Duties & Qualifications:

  • Have a strong desire to provide exceptional customer service
  • Handling of cash and experience with cash registers is needed if selling merchandise
  • Must be energetic and positive; have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and be able to communicate pleasantly with customers
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, and organize time/tasks to meet deadlines
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Detail-oriented
  • Be physically fit and for most of the shift have the ability to stand, walk, lift and move boxes if selling merchandise
