Facility Technician – Full-Time                                              

The A/V Production Department at Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking a full-time Facility Technician.  The successful applicant will be a key member of a strong customer service-oriented Technical Services team.  Evening and weekend work is required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and dismantle events that have audio, visual, and lighting components
  • Provide regular inspections of audio-visual equipment and cables
  • Help maintain a service/inspection/maintenance/inventory program and database for all equipment
  • Coordinate with A/V Production Management for reporting lost or broken equipment.
  • Operate scissor lifts
  • Coordinate with Prairieland Operations, other A/V employees, and IATSE Local 300 members
  • Update and keep track of time sheets for IATSE Local 300 members

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

    • A minimum of five years of experience in sound, lighting, and video equipment including the ability to repair equipment
    • Extensive knowledge of computers
    • Understanding of room layouts, detail sheets, and maps
    • Knowledge of live video streaming
    • Attention to detail; ability to identify potential equipment risks
    • A commitment to safety with knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations
    • Knowledge of proper rigging and regulations
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
    • Ability to diagnose problems and move to resolve problems quickly
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
    • Strong commitment to customer service
    • Good judgment and a positive attitude

Banquet Cooks, Concession Cooks, Line Cooks & Prep Cooks – Part-Time                                              

To support our continued growth, the Food & Beverage Department of the World Trade Center Saskatoon at Prairieland currently requires part time Banquet Cooks, Concession Cooks, Line Cooks and Prep Cooks. These positions have the potential to become full time.

Operations Personnel – Full-Time

The Operations Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires full-time Operations Personnel.
The purpose of the Operations Personnel position is to provide specific services and support for all Prairieland events and their rental customers. The Operations Personnel are also involved in the overall operations and maintenance of all Prairieland Park facilities, grounds, equipment and inventory.

The work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening, weekend shifts, and overnight shifts will be required.

Duties will vary and can include:

  • In collaboration with Operations Department Staff, Event Coordinators, and customers, temporary installation and/or removal of material required for individual events in accordance with event specifications (to include: staging, carpet, drape, tables, chairs, décor material, and other equipment)
  • Materials handling (shipping/ receiving) of tradeshow-related materials, sign installation and other services in accordance with event specifications
  • Monitoring of all building mechanical (lighting, temperature, electrical) for maintenance of facilities to ensure safety and comfort for all
  • Communication with co-workers and customers to ensure that all event requirements and event changes are completed to the customer’s satisfaction or passed on to the appropriate person to be addressed
  • General maintenance duties as assigned for upkeep of facilities and all property
  • Outdoor grounds maintenance duties as assigned. (Snow and ice removal, grounds sweeping, painting, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service
  • Must be a team player with proven ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with customers, co-workers and guests\
  • Be well organized and able to establish and set work priorities and deadlines
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Previous experience operating forklifts, bobcats, scissor lifts and tractors is preferred.
  • Must be physically fit and energetic including and have the ability to lift and move heavy objects

FOOD & BEVERAGE SUPERVISOR

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking to fill the role of Food & Beverage Supervisor.  Reporting to the Manager – Food and Beverage, the Food and Beverage Supervisors are key members of the food & beverage team, ensuring an exceptional customer experience for every event. The department is responsible for all food service operations including concessions and banquet services.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in building a strong customer service oriented Food & Beverage team through day to day supervision and providing direction and support to staff
  • Working with the Event Management and Operations departments to meet our client’s needs for events hosted at the World Trade Center Saskatoon
  • Supporting seasonal activities such as the Ex Spudnut Hut, Ex beer gardens and Ex concessions
  • Prepare cash floats and monitor cash activities during events to ensure proper cash handling procedures
  • Participate in inventory management
  • Monitor equipment performance and issues
  • Monitor operations during shift to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and legislation; adequate staffing, guest and staff safety, quality products, excellent service, clean and comfortable surroundings and atmosphere
  • Monitor operations during shift to respond to staff needs, restock supplies as needed, accommodate special requests, note areas of concern and follow up to take immediate corrective action
  • Monitor storage of food and beverage products to eliminate waste; maintain orderly storage area, manage product quality and inventory, ensure adherence to health guidelines for safe food handling and storage
  • Enforce safety guidelines to prevent accidents and incidents
  • In the event of an emergency, lead staff in following emergency guidelines
  • Ensure staff is scheduled in a timely manner and according to corporate policies, Employment Standards, Human Rights and Occupational Health & Safety
  • Assist in conflict resolution; identify and address performance issues
  • Assist in the review and submission of payroll and respond to staff questions about payroll

 Qualifications:

A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in the food & beverage industry including experience with banquets, concessions and fine dining in the convention and hospitality industries

AGRICULTURE ADMINISTRATOR

 Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized person to fill the role of Agriculture Administrator.  Reporting to the Agriculture Manager, the Agriculture Administrator will perform various duties associated with the development, preparation and implementation of Prairieland’s many agricultural programs. This position is full time with evening work required depending on our event schedule.

Key Responsibilities include:

 Working with the Agriculture Manager to administer agricultural events

  • Liaison with public and exhibitors daily
  • Initial contact with Ag Center clients, prepare detail sheets and be on site for rental events to provide client support
  • Coordinate with agriculture committee members
  • Attend all committee meetings and record minutes
  • Coordinate show details with Prairieland departments
  • Give support to part time Ag Center personnel
  • Development of sponsor contacts and proposals and other sponsorship duties as assigned
  • Assist in purchasing of prizes
  • Prepare printed material related to shows
  • Update and maintain Access files as necessary
  • Input of livestock entries
  • Generate reports required for livestock shows
  • Generate purchase orders and client invoices

 Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of the agriculture industry
  • Extensive computer knowledge including MS Word, MS Access and MS Excel
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Effective project planning and time-management skills
  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Able to work as a member of a team and independently
  • Strong customer service focus
