Chanse Vigen, claims the Saskatoon WPCA Championship

The 2019 edition of the Saskatoon Chuckwagon races wrapped up on Sunday afternoon, after four great days of racing at Marquis Downs at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.

Close to 5000 fans watched as the 36 professional drivers, and their equine partners, compete for the championship over four days of racing. When the times were tabulated, it was Chanse Vigen from Okotoks, Alberta, driving the Quick Mats Sales and Handling outfit that came out ahead. Chanse, along with outriders, Quaid Tournier and Ryan McNeill, took home trophy buckles sponsored by Sterling Trailer Sales and the winning paycheque. Amongst fierce competition, Chanses’ weekend total was only 10/100ths of a second faster than Vern Nolin, a former Saskatoon champion. This is Chanse’s first win in his WPCA (World Professional Chuckwagon Association) career.
It was a thrilling weekend, and although the weather threatened on Sunday, the crowd was still strong for the final day of racing.
