Operations Personnel (Full-Time)
The Operations Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires full-time Operations Personnel.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the purpose of the Operations Personnel position is to provide specific services and support for all Prairieland events and their rental customers. The Operations Personnel are also involved in the overall operations and maintenance of all Prairieland Park facilities, grounds, equipment, and inventory.
To be successful in this role, Operations Personnel bring a positive approach and heightened attention to detail and quality when providing all required services. Efficiency and thoroughness are critical when producing multiple events. Record keeping is required for all services provided and inventory adjustments as needed.
The role is 40 hours per week and the work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening, weekend, and overnight shifts will be required.
Duties:
- In collaboration with Operations Department Staff, Event Coordinators, and customers, temporary installation and/or removal of material required for individual events in accordance with event specifications to include staging, carpet, drape, tables, chairs, décor material, and other equipment.
- Materials handling (shipping/ receiving) of tradeshow related materials, sign installation and other services in accordance with event specifications.
- Monitoring of all building mechanical (lighting, temperature, electrical) for maintenance of facilities to ensure safety and comfort for all.
- Communication with co-workers and customers to ensure that all event requirements and event changes are completed to the customer’s satisfaction or passed on to the appropriate person to be addressed.
- General maintenance duties as assigned for upkeep of facilities and all property.
- Outdoor grounds maintenance duties as assigned. (Snow and ice removal, grounds sweeping, painting, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service.
- Must be a team player with proven ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with customers, co-workers, and guests.
- Be well organized and able to establish and set work priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Previous experience operating forklifts, bobcats, scissor lifts and tractors is preferred.
- Must be physically fit, energetic, and have the ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Forklift certification is considered an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

Apply Operations Personnel (Full-Time)
Signature Events Coordinator
The Signature Events Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a Signature Event Coordinator to join our team.
Reporting to the Manager of Signature Events, the purpose of the Signature Events Coordinator is to assist the Manager in the development, organization, and delivery of events that are produced in-house by Prairieland.
To be successful in this role, effective communication and providing exceptional customer service are critical. The selected candidate will also bring a positive approach and heightened attention to detail with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
The role is 35 hours per week with regular work hours between 8:30 am. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. At times there will be a need to work varied hours, including some evenings and weekends, depending on the events taking place at Prairieland.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, review, implement, coordinate, and communicate Signature Events programs.
- Initiate and/or participate in meetings with clients, committees, and internal departments to complete and distribute event Detail Sheets and deliver program excellence.
- Order required equipment, contracted services, and supplies for events.
- Provide timely and frequent updates and progress reports to Signature Events Manager and other internal departments as needed.
- Attending event production meetings according to the signature events schedule.
- Assist in scheduling casual staff for other Prairieland departments and contractees including staff schedules, reminders and timesheets for these events.
- Monitor event set-up to ensure safety regulations, event schedules and client requirements are met.
- Provide training (where necessary), briefing and scheduling for volunteers, security team and event staff.
- Liaise with event subcontractors and clients to resolve concerns quickly and effectively.
- Work the show alongside other team members to provide on-site information to patrons, exhibitors, admission staff and support ticketing at the event.
- Maintain an ongoing presence on the event floor during setup and event days to monitor overall presentation, temperature, lighting, safety concerns, audio visual and access and communicate with required service departments to resolve concerns.
- Provide detailed event reports and collation of key event data.
- Assist in processing event staff payroll as needed.
- Online ticking system – Work with clients to provide quotes, setup, settlement, and invoicing.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:
- Post-secondary education in Events Management or similar is an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years’ experience in event management/planning
- SIRS & Service Best training considered an asset.
- Strong commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills – positive attitude; personable; energetic; fun-loving; tactful; professional demeanor.
- Exceptional organizational, administrative and time management skills: ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, self-motivate, manage, and identify multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills – easily communicates with all people; effective listener; ability to identify and understand guests’ needs; ability to convey verbally and in writing instructions, directions, floor plans and other written materials.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a multi-dimensional team.
- Knowledge of convention, hospitality, and entertainment events.
- Experience organizing a variety of events including trade shows, live stage, and signature events.
- Ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment in the best interests of the event/organization.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and event management tools.
- Knowledge of standard safety regulations including Occupational Health & Safety, fire, SLGA, labor standards and emergency procedure.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Apply Signature Events Coordinator
Operations Supervisor
The Operations Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a full-time Operations Supervisor.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the purpose of the Operations Supervisor position is to work as a member of the Operations team to complete day-to-day operational tasks and provide front-line supervision to Operations personnel involved in the setup and delivery of events and in the operation and maintenance of Prairieland facilities. In the absence of the Custodial Services Supervisor, this position may provide directions to Custodial Services employees as required.
To be successful in this role, the Operations Supervisor will bring a positive approach and heightened attention to detail and quality when providing all the required services. Efficiency, thoroughness, and record keeping are critical when producing multiple events. The successful candidate will have the ability to motivate others, build positive relationships, and will possess strong communication skills.
The role is 80 hours per two weeks with day, evening, weekend, and occasional overnight shifts. Shifts are based on event timelines and operational requirements.
Duties:
- Event setup and delivery, including but not limited to banquets, trade shows, conferences and meetings
- Pre-inspection of all inventories, equipment and material required for each event and reporting of deficiencies; assist with verifying inventory counts for post event reports (i.e. number of tables, chairs, drape, etc.)
- Assist management to achieve high morale and help to resolve any staff related problems or complaints
- Provide frontline direction and supervision to ensure that buildings and events are set up as requested and continually monitor the events
- Respond to unplanned situations and change requirements to ensure that we provide the best customer service possible. Work with the production team to find reasonable solutions and identify risk areas in advance
- Establish goals, priorities and strategies for safe and efficient event set ups
- Open facility for renters, exhibitors and public as scheduled
- Assign Operations or Custodial Services Personnel to respond to electrical, temperature, lighting, and access problems
- Continually monitor traffic flow, security and safety (interior and exterior of World Trade Center Saskatoon buildings) and take immediate action to repair or remove hazards (i.e. snow removal, sanding, sweeping, cleaning wet floors and proper signage); document and report building deficiencies
- Investigate incidents and prepare incident reports if required; report incidents to appropriate Prairieland personnel and security
- Ensure facility is secure at the end of the day
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients and customers aided by awareness of event services and detailed information regarding each show
- Completion of all information necessary for billing and recording of all services provided
- Monitor areas for upkeep and appearance within all facilities, outside property and inventory
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience including experience in orientating, training and coaching of employees
- Ability to follow deadlines and accomplish quick event turnovers
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly extroverted personality
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Hands-on leader; willing to work alongside staff
- Professional demeanor and the ability to deal with people in a tactful and diplomatic manner
- Effective time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Good judgement and positive attitude for resolution of all situations and ability to identify risks
- Basic understanding of carpentry, mechanics and plumbing
- Knowledge of fire regulations, emergency procedures, first aid, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and WHMIS.
- Knowledge of all building mechanical including lighting, electrical, HVAC and utility control procedures
- Must be physically fit, energetic, and can lift and move heavy objects.
- Forklift and aerial certification considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license
