Custodial Supervisor

The Operations Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a full-time Custodial Supervisor.

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the purpose of the Custodial Services Supervisor is to hire, train, supervise and manage the performance of the Custodial Services group of employees.

The primary goal of the position is to achieve quality customer service and cleanliness throughout all Prairieland facilities.

To be successful in this role, the Custodial Supervisor will bring a positive approach and heightened attention to detail and quality when providing all required services. The successful candidate will have the ability to motivate others, build positive relationships, and will possess strong communication skills.

The role is 40 hours per week, and the work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening and weekend shifts will be required.

Duties:

  • Hire, train, motivate, and evaluate Custodial Service Attendants to ensure that standard work practices are followed as outlined by Prairieland.
  • Monitor team activities to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Maintain appropriate levels of cleaning supplies and equipment necessary to maintain all areas
  • Continually monitor for hazards, safety and security of premises, equipment, merchandise, people on premises, the grounds and take immediate action to remove or repair hazards; document and report building deficiencies to the appropriate Prairieland department
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure facility cleanliness
  • Assist in the production and planning for all events within the Operations Department; priority to the annual EX and organizing staffing for this event
  • Assist in compiling information required for billing purposes
  • Review daily production requirements through detail sheets and/or conference with Operations team to coordinate daily cleaning operations
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ commercial cleaning experience
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly extroverted personality
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Hands-on leader; willing to work alongside staff
  • Professional demeanor
  • Effective time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of fire regulations, emergency procedures, first aid, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and WHMIS.
  • Must be physically fit, energetic, and able to lift/move objects up to 50lbs.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license

Chef/Kitchen Manager - Sports On Tap

Sports on Tap of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and responsible full-time Chef/Kitchen Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the Sports on Tap Manager, the Chef/Kitchen Manager is responsible for recruiting, developing and leading a dedicated team of culinary staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food handling/preparation, team management, customer service, and will be a collaborative team player who excels in a fast-paced environment.

The role is 80 hours per two weeks, and the work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the business needs. Morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts will be required.

Duties:

  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Hiring and training kitchen staff; facilitate ongoing training and education of menu items.
  • Scheduling of all kitchen staff.
  • Monitor and control food costs.
  • Inventory management and quality control.
  • Menu suggestions, planning, and creations.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen as per provincial and federal food safety laws.
  • Monitoring equipment.
  • Assist with the disciplinary process as required.
  • Commitment to guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 3 to 5 years’ experience in commercial food preparation.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Culinary arts training and/or hospitality post-secondary education are considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience training, hiring, scheduling, and developing menus.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Must have a strong commitment to customer service excellence.

Ag Center Personnel

The Prairieland Ag Center of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires casual Ag Center Personnel.

The Prairieland Ag Center is a year-round multi-purpose facility that caters to livestock shows and sales, equestrian events, and a variety of other agricultural uses.

The work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening and weekend shifts will be required.

Duties:

  • Prepare facility to host livestock events and events clean up.
  • Set up and take down penning, stalls, and head stalls as required to accommodate livestock for events.
  • Maintain cleanliness of building and grounds.
  • Point of contact for client during events.
  • Work with Operations Department to facilitate maintenance of equipment and building.
  • Supervising of crew for set-up and clean-up of livestock events
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the livestock industry, specifically equine related events, facilities, and services.

Manager, Facilities & Operations

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is currently seeking a full-time Manager, Facilities & Operations, to join its Operations Department.

Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management & Operations Services, the Manager, Facilities & Operations is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and daily operations of Prairieland’s buildings and grounds. This includes custodial services, facility repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, event support and set-ups, grounds maintenance, and related repair work. The role also uses a computerized maintenance management system to schedule and track repair and maintenance tasks, supports occupational health and safety requirements, and carries out other operational responsibilities as required.

To be successful in this role, the Manager, Facilities & Operations will demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach to supporting a busy event-based environment. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, communicate effectively with staff, customers, and service providers, and maintain high standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service.

This role is 40 hours per week with regular work hours between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. At times, there may be a need to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the events taking place at Prairieland.

Duties:

  • Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day cleaning, maintenance, repairs, security, and safety of Prairieland buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Work with departments to resolve cleaning, repair, maintenance, security, and safety concerns related to the buildings and grounds.
  • Identify, coordinate, and oversee contractual services related to buildings and grounds, including snow removal, security, maintenance contracts, waste removal, and utilities.
  • Purchase equipment, materials, and supplies required for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, customers, and external partners to set up, deliver, and move out events in accordance with event detail sheets.
  • Support the development and lead the execution of strategic and operational plans for the Operations Department, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, event industry trends, and innovations relevant to a large trade and convention centre.
  • Support the development and lead the execution of corporate risk management, disaster preparedness, and emergency management plans related to Prairieland operations, facilities, events, and public safety.
  • Develop and manage the Operations Department’s operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor approved budgets and authorize expenditures in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Establish work rules for the Operations Department and, in coordination with Human Resources, oversee departmental staffing matters, including hiring, training, equipment operator certification, orientation, scheduling, payroll, disciplinary action, performance evaluations, and workplace health and safety.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Facilities Management & Operations Services, department managers, and Human Resources to facilitate resolution discussions and support the timely, constructive resolution of interdepartmental conflicts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Facility Management, or similar is an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience in facilities, operations, maintenance, or a related environment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience leading, coaching, and developing diverse teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and monitor operational plans, policies, procedures, projects, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage departmental budgets, capital projects, contracts, and organizational resources.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, emergency preparedness, and risk management principles.
  • Strong understanding of facility operations and maintenance practices, with the ability to oversee programs and coordinate technical staff, trades personnel, contractors, and service providers.
  • Ability to balance day-to-day operational requirements with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
