Operations Personnel

The Operations Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires full-time Operations Personnel.

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the purpose of the Operations Personnel position is to provide specific services and support for all Prairieland events and their rental customers. The Operations Personnel are also involved in the overall operations and maintenance of all Prairieland Park facilities, grounds, equipment, and inventory.

To be successful in this role, Operations Personnel bring a positive approach and heightened attention to detail and quality when providing all required services. Efficiency and thoroughness are critical when producing multiple events. Record keeping is required for all services provided and inventory adjustments as needed.

The role is 40 hours per week, and the work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening, weekend, and overnight shifts will be required.

Duties:

  • In collaboration with Operations Department Staff, Event Coordinators, and customers, temporary installation and/or removal of material required for individual events in accordance with event specifications to include staging, carpet, drape, tables, chairs, décor material, and other equipment.
  • Materials handling (shipping/ receiving) of tradeshow related materials, sign installation and other services in accordance with event specifications.
  • Monitoring of all building mechanical (lighting, temperature, electrical) for maintenance of facilities to ensure safety and comfort for all.
  • Communication with co-workers and customers to ensure that all event requirements and event changes are completed to the customer’s satisfaction or passed on to the appropriate person to be addressed.
  • General maintenance duties as assigned for upkeep of facilities and all property.
  • Outdoor grounds maintenance duties as assigned. (Snow and ice removal, grounds sweeping, painting, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • Must be a team player with proven ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with customers, co-workers, and guests.
  • Be well organized and able to establish and set work priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts, bobcats, scissor lifts and tractors is preferred.
  • Must be physically fit, energetic, and have the ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Forklift certification is considered an asset.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Groundskeepers

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking four (4) temporary full-time summer Groundskeepers to join our team.

To be successful in this role, groundskeepers need to be dependable, hardworking, and punctual.

Required work schedule for this position:

  • Monday to Friday – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (1/2-hour unpaid lunch).
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends if required.

Job Description/ Duties:

  • Maintenance of Prairieland grounds: cutting grass, whipper-snipping, irrigation duties, planting and maintenance of all seasonal plants and existing trees/shrubs, garbage clean up as required, weed control/ spraying and pest (gopher) control.
  • Design and implement floral baskets, beds, containers, and seasonal displays.
  • Apply soil mixtures and fertilizers.
  • Inspect plant material for pests, insects and disease and apply appropriate corrective measures.
  • Sound knowledge of plants, plant maintenance, soil disease, weeding, plant identification, and pruning.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
  • Must have experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, and plant maintenance.
  • Must have experience with operating grounds-keeping equipment, small hand tools and irrigation equipment.
  • Must be physically fit to be able to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.

Client Services Coordinator

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized professional to fill the role of Client Services Coordinator.

Reporting to the Client Services Manager, the Client Services Coordinator is the primary liaison for Prairieland clients and internal departments in the development and execution of exceptional events. The Client Services Coordinator is responsible for developing detailed event plans and works with clients through planning, move-in, show time and move-out to deliver events that meet and exceed expectations.

To be successful in this role, effective communication and exceptional customer service are critical. The selected candidate will also bring a positive approach and heightened attention to detail with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.

This full-time role is 35 hours per week with regular work hours extending into the evenings from Wednesday to Sunday. Flexibility in your schedule, including evening, weekend, and holiday availability will be required to meet Prairieland events’ needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect relevant event information from clients and/or the Client Services Manager, advise clients of available Prairieland services and equipment, and recommend/upsell services and solutions that will elevate the event.
  • Compile detail sheets and floor plans, and update accordingly to meet clients’ needs while ensuring clear communication of changes to other departments.
  • Prepare and distribute all service orders (i.e. exhibitor signs, Wi-Fi, electrical, etc.).
  • Collaborate with other event coordinators to ensure thorough communication, schedule alignment and a smooth execution of events. Provide backup support to other event coordinators as needed.
  • Acquaint show organizers / clients / exhibitors with relevant facility regulations and liaise with them throughout event.
  • Ensure event set-up and required services are on schedule.
  • Oversee events on the floor and address needs and concerns as they arise. Engage Operations and supervise Service Desk, if required.
  • Investigate and report incidents to appropriate Prairieland personnel and Security, prepare incident reports.
  • Liaise with client’s post-event to gather feedback and ensure return of Prairieland property.
  • Lead event debriefs with Prairieland team and complete post-event reports.
  • Compile billing information for invoice generation.
  • Manage and review post-event customer surveys.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Events Management, Hospitality field, or similar is an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in an event coordinator or similar role organizing meetings, banquets, conventions, trade shows, and entertainment events.
  • Knowledge of convention and hospitality industries.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and event management tools/applications.
  • Effective project planning and time-management skills.
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and effective listening skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation, fire regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service.

Ag Center Personnel

The Prairieland Ag Center of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires casual Ag Center Personnel.

The Prairieland Ag Center is a year-round multi-purpose facility that caters to livestock shows and sales, equestrian events, and a variety of other agricultural uses.

The work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening and weekend shifts will be required.

Duties:

  • Prepare facility to host livestock events and events clean up.
  • Set up and take down penning, stalls, and head stalls as required to accommodate livestock for events.
  • Maintain cleanliness of building and grounds.
  • Point of contact for client during events.
  • Work with Operations Department to facilitate maintenance of equipment and building.
  • Supervising of crew for set-up and clean-up of livestock events

About the Position

The Director, Facilities Management & Operations Services is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all facilities, infrastructure, and site operations at Prairieland. This position also oversees large capital and site development projects.

Reporting to the CEO and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role provides enterprise‑level leadership to ensure Prairieland’s facilities are safe, reliable, and positioned to support large‑scale events, year‑round programming, and future development. The Director also acts as Corporate Safety Officer, with organization‑wide accountability for safety systems and regulatory compliance.

This role provides leadership oversight of the Operations department, ensuring staffing structures, workforce capability, training, and performance standards are aligned with operational and event requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all facilities and site operations
  • Develop and execute the department business plan and annual operating and capital budgets
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality service
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Lead and promote a strong, proactive safety culture across the organization
  • Manage capital planning, planned expenditures, and asset lifecycle strategies
  • Develop business cases for on‑site development and major infrastructure initiatives
  • Oversee all on‑site projects, renovations, and new developments
  • Ensure facilities and operations effectively support major events and peak demand periods
  • Provide leadership oversight of the Operations department structure, ensuring roles, staffing levels, and competencies align with operational and event demands
  • Ensure effective hiring, onboarding, training, and performance expectations are in place for operations staff through strong leadership of management and supervisory teams
  • Drive operational efficiency through consistent standards, processes, and continuous improvement across facilities and event operations

Qualifications

  • Degree in business, engineering, facilities management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Minimum 7 years experience in facilities and operations management within a complex environment
  • Minimum 5 years experience in senior leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, infrastructure, and capital projects
  • Experience with asset, maintenance, and work order management systems (CMMS)
  • Proficiency with MS 365; advanced Excel skills considered an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety, compliance, and risk management
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training considered an asset
