Chef de Partie (F/T)

Reports to: Executive Chef
Department: Food and Beverage
Hours: Full-time: 40 hours per week

Objective:

To assist in facilitating extraordinary culinary events, smooth kitchen operations, superior first-rate customer service, and a positive, safe working environment. This position will assist the Executive Chef in planning and food preparation for events as large as 5,000 people, as well as supervision of staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Human Resources

  • In the absence of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, direct the activities of
    all kitchen staff. This includes being accountable for training, providing
    encouragement and feedback, and enabling the team to execute first-rate
    customer service in a positive, safe work environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality

Culinary and Planning

  • Contribute to menu and product research and development.
  • Execute menus in collaboration with the Food and Beverage team.
  • Contribute to monitoring the quality and presentation of menu items prior to
    being served to guests.
  •  Contribute to managing inventory of supplies and ingredients. This includes,
    but is not limited to, ordering, receiving, properly storing, and identifying
    needed supplies and ingredients.

Safety

  • Contribute to training staff on safe work procedures, food handling, and
    equipment usage.
  • Monitor adherence to health and safety practices and policies. Ensure safe
    practices are upheld.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any safety concerns.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Minimum of three years progressively responsible experience in commercial
    food preparation
  • Supervisory and kitchen management experience preferred
  • WHIMS Certification, Food Safe Level 1 and 2 Certification
  • Safety-minded
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, along with ability to coach and
    mentor staff
  • Go-getter who takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride
    in superior first-rate customer service
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Experience in purchasing food and beverage products and services and
    experience in receiving, storage and maintenance of inventory

  • This position requires standing, walking, and lifting awkward / heavy objects

Cook - World Trade Center (Casual)

Hours: Casual: Hours will vary

Objective: To contribute to extraordinary culinary events, superior first-rate customer service, and a positive, safe working environment. Under the direction of the Executive Chef, the Cook will prepare food as part of a team, for events as large as 5,000 people.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of items including appetizers, salads, soups,
    hot meals, and desserts following established recipes and guidelines.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared to high-quality standards, paying attention to
    consistency of taste, presentation and portion size.
  • Operate kitchen utensils and equipment according to safe work procedures.
  • Adhere to proper safe food handling, storage, and cleaning practices to
    maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Maintain positive, open communication with Food and Beverage team
    members to facilitate smooth kitchen operations, including coordination of
    timing of food preparation.
  • Contribute to a positive customer experience by executing orders in a timely
    and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to menu and product research and development.

Operations Personnel (F/T)

Reports to: Manager, Operations
Department: Operations
Hours: 40 hours per week. Shifts may be scheduled any day of the week, during daytime, evening, or nights.

Purpose:
The purpose of the Operations Personnel position is to provide specific services and support for all Prairieland events and their rental customers. Operations Personnel are also involved in the overall operations and maintenance of all Prairieland facilities, grounds, equipment and inventory.

Key elements of work:

Pre-Event Set-up

  • Pre-inspection of all inventory, equipment and material required and reporting of deficiencies to supervisors
  • General maintenance tasks related to designated buildings and grounds for upcoming events

Event Set-up

  • Operations duties such as the temporary installation/removal of material required for individual events including: carpet, drape, tables, chairs and other décor material. Materials handling (shipping/ receiving) of tradeshow related material, sign installation and other assigned services
  • Knowledge and review of specific event details through acquisition of current detail sheets to assist in prioritizing and organizing setup requirements

Event Delivery/ Customer Service

  • Providing excellent customer service to all clients and customers aided by awareness of event services and detailed information regarding each show
  • Monitoring of all building mechanical (lighting, temperature, electrical) for maintenance of facilities to insure safety and comfort for all
  • Communication with other Operations staff, Facility Supervisors and other Departments to ensure that all requirements and event changes are satisfied

Post Event

  • Post event reports, incident reports and billing information recorded as required
  • Items for repair to be noted and directed to the appropriate person

Maintenance

  • General maintenance duties as assigned for upkeep of facilities and all property
  • Basic operation of hand tools and equipment for minor repairs
  • Outdoor grounds maintenance duties as assigned. Snow removal, grounds sweeping, painting, etc

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Valid drivers’ license; minimum Class 5, Class 4 an asset
  • Forklift certification
  • Operation of tractors, bobcats, forklifts, scissor lifts
  • Basic knowledge of building mechanical, lighting, electrical, HVAC, audio/visual equipment
  • Utility control procedures
  • Basic carpentry and plumbing skills
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
  • This role requires significant physical exertion including lifting and carrying heavy items, bending, reaching, crouching, prolonged standing, and engaging in other physical activities

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Previous experience operating forklifts, bobcats, scissor lifts and tractors is preferred.

Cook - Sports On Tap (P/T)

Sports on Tap at Prairieland Park is hiring a part time Cook. The position has the potential to become full time. Applicants must be available to work day, evening & weekend shifts.

Duties:

  • Food preparation
  • Line cooking
  • Kitchen clean-up

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of one year experience in food preparation and line/prep cooking
  • Must be a team player
  • Be committed to providing excellent customer service
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends

Server - Sports On Tap (P/T)

Sports on Tap at Prairieland is hiring a part-time Server. Applicants must be available to work day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Duties:

  • Provide a high level of service of food and drink orders to guests
  • Maintenance of cleanliness on service floor and serving area
  • Cashier duties
  • Inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Successful applicants must have the Serve it Right course and be able to provide their completion certificate
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Must have a strong commitment to customer service excellence
  • Be mature and dependable
  • Previous serving experience is an asset

Prairieland is accepting applications, on a casual basis, for the following positions at SaskTel Centre and at Prairieland:

  • Ushers, Merchandise Sellers & Guest Services
  • Door Staff, Liquor Ticket Sellers, & Cashiers
  • Seasonal casual employment for different types of jobs (Glow move-in/move-out, coat check attendants, parking attendants, etc.)
