About the Position 

As the Director, Facilities Management & Operations Services, you will be a key player in shaping the future of our organization. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead a dedicated team and drive excellence in facilities management, operations, and event support ensuring we deliver on our mission to produce, host and facilitate extraordinary events through superior first-rate customer service and facilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the department business plan and annual budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and lead a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional service.
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring the efficient and effective execution of departmental initiatives.
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture within the organization.
  • Manage the capital budget and planned expenditures for facilities and operations.
  • Develop business cases for on-site development, contributing to the growth and enhancement of our venue.
  • Oversee all on-site projects and new developments.

To prepare for this senior role, you have a business or related degree and 7+ years of experience in all facets of building systems and operations. You are familiar with asset and maintenance management software. Six Sigma or similar training is a definite asset.

Groundskeepers (Summer Temp F/T)

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 

Work Term: May 6, 2024 to August 23, 2024

Hours: 40 hours per week

Saskatoon Prairieland Park is seeking to fill three (3) temporary full-time summer Groundskeeper positions.

To be successful in this role, groundskeepers need to be dependable, hardworking and punctual.

Required work schedule for this position:

  • Monday to Friday – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (1/2-hour unpaid lunch).
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends if required.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Maintenance of Prairieland Park grounds: cutting grass, whipper-snipping, irrigation duties, planting and maintenance of all seasonal plants and existing trees/shrubs, garbage clean up as required, weed control/ spraying and pest (gopher) control.
  • Design and implement floral baskets, beds, containers, and seasonal displays.
  • Apply soil mixtures and fertilizers.
  • Inspect plant material for pests, insects and disease and apply appropriate corrective measures.
  • Sound knowledge of plants, plant maintenance, soil disease, weeding, plant identifications and pruning.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
  • Must have experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, and plant maintenance.
  • Must have experience with operating grounds-keeping equipment, small hand tools and irrigation equipment.
  • Must be physically fit to be able to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations

Ag Center Personnel (P/T)

The Prairieland Ag Center of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires part-time Ag Center Personnel.

The work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening and weekend shifts will be required.

Duties:

  • Prepare facility to host livestock events and event clean up
  • Set up and take down penning, stalls, and head stalls as required to accommodate livestock for events
  • Maintain cleanliness of building and grounds
  • Point of contact for client during events
  • Work with Operations Department to facilitate maintenance of equipment and building
  • Supervising of crew for set-up and clean-up of livestock events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Chef de Partie (F/T)

The Food and Beverage department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a full-time Chef de Partie.

The Chef de Partie will assist in facilitating extraordinary culinary events, smooth kitchen operations, superior first-rate customer service, and a positive, safe working environment. This position will report to the Executive Chef (EC) and will assist the EC in planning and food preparation for events as large as 5,000 people, as well as supervision of staff.

The role is 40 hours per week and the work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule, additional hours may be required. Day, evening, weekend, and night shifts will be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to menu and product research and development.
  • Execute menus in collaboration with the Food and Beverage team.
  • Contribute to monitoring the quality and presentation of menu items prior to being served to guests.
  • Contribute to managing inventory of supplies and ingredients. This includes but is not limited to ordering, receiving, properly storing, and identifying needed supplies and ingredients.
  • In the absence of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, direct the activities of all kitchen staff. This includes being accountable for training, providing encouragement and feedback, and enabling the team to execute first rate customer service in a positive, safe work environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Contribute to training staff on safe work procedures, food handling, and equipment usage.
  • Monitor adherence to health and safety practices and policies. Ensure safe practices are upheld.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any safety concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Culinary education is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in commercial food preparation. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Supervisory and kitchen management experience preferred.
  • WHIMS Certification, Food Safe Level 1 and 2 Certification.
  • Experience in purchasing food and beverage products and services and experience in receiving, storage and maintenance of inventory.

Merchandise Supervisor (Casual)

The Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a casual Merchandise Supervisor for the SaskTel Centre.

Prairieland ensures casual staffing for the merchandise department at SaskTel Centre.

The work schedule will vary from week to week, based on events scheduled at SaskTel Centre, requiring merchandise sales. Opportunity to work in other departments within SaskTel Centre and/or Prairieland events available.

Duties:

  • Receive staffing requests from SaskTel Centre.
  • Work closely with the Event Staff Coordinator on placement of staff for the event (Designate booth captains for each merchandise area as required).
  • Open communication with Event Staff Coordinator when staff are ill, late, or not showing up for scheduled shift.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained for assigned duties.
  • On site event orientation prior to start.
  • Ensure employees are signing-in and out with Prairieland approved scanners and timesheets.
  • Arrive in advance of event start time (as per SaskTel Centre request) to receive merchandise, divide merchandise, supervise set up of booths and prepare and distribute floats for booths.
  • Attend all supervisor meetings prior to events, relay information to staff.
  • Compile timesheets and verify accuracy of timesheets; scan completed timesheets to Prairieland after event.
  • Inventory activities.
  • Cash management activities.
  • Fill out event shift reports and report all incidents to Signature Events Coordinator and/or Manager.
  • Identify and address performance issues; resolve conflicts as required with support from Signature Events Manager/SPPC Human Resources.

Qualifications:
