About Prairieland Park

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation (Prairieland Park) is a leader in developing and hosting a diverse range of trade shows, conventions, conferences, industry expos, live entertainment shows, and signature events, including the Saskatoon EX. Prairieland Park continues to be the center for agricultural excellence and hosts the Western Canadian Crop Production Show, the Saskatchewan Beef Expo, and Gardenscape, as well as youth 4H and other agricultural programs.

With the recent promotion of the CFO to the Chief Executive Officer, we are looking for a CFO to join the executive team and be a key leader at Prairieland Park.

About the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the executive team and provides strategic management of the accounting, finance and information systems functions. The CFO has direct responsibility for managing the insurance portfolio and the corporation’s risk management program. The CFO is a key contributor to the corporation’s strategic planning and business planning processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic management of the accounting, finance and information systems functions
  • Direct accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Prepare the corporation’s financial statements; report on all monthly, quarterly and annual financial results
  • Oversee the preparation of annual operating budgets and capital budgets
  • Oversee financial and information systems, implementations and upgrades
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions and other key vendors and partners

If you are a leader who is entrepreneurial, innovative and collaborative by nature, this is a great role for you. To prepare for this role, you will have a CPA designation (CMA background is an asset), ten years of related experience and five years of senior leadership experience. Knowledge of Sage 300 is also required. Strong analytical, financial management, strategic planning and communication skills are key.

Sports On Tap Servers - PT

Duties:

  • Provide a high level of service of food and drink orders to guests

Custodial Personnel - FT

The Operations Department at Prairieland currently requires full-time Custodial Attendants.

 Duties:

  • All aspects of daily janitorial within Prairieland’s facilities and may include the operation of commercial cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers and scissor lifts for larger-scale maintenance tasks.

Office Administrator – PT

Reporting to the Executive Assistant, the purpose of the Office Administrator is to provide reception, administrative and special project support for Prairieland-sponsored events and programs. The hours are Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break.  Some full days are required when coverage is needed for vacations.  Overtime may be required at different times of the year depending on our event schedule.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Initial contact with clients and patrons who visit the Prairieland Park Administration office
  • Answer multiple line switchboard, direct calls, and take messages
  • Keep well-informed of Prairieland Park scheduled events; respond to inquiries
  • Monitor office supply inventory and order office supplies as required
  • Provide administrative support to department managers
  • Maintain Prairieland Park membership database
  • Work registration tables at corporate events – three to four events per year
  • Sales and processing of ticket orders on POS system
  • Securing volunteers and staff for Prairieland Park produced events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A recognized secretarial certificate/diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 including Excel and Access
  • One year of recent and relevant experience performing administrative and clerical work
  • Knowledge of common office procedures
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective listening skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Maintain level of professionalism to both internal and external customers

Operations Personnel (F/T)

The Operations Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires full-time Operations Personnel. The purpose of the Operations Personnel position is to provide specific services and support for all Prairieland events and their rental customers. The Operations Personnel are also involved in the overall operations and maintenance of all Prairieland Park facilities, grounds, equipment and inventory.

The work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule. Evening, weekend shifts, and overnight shifts will be required.

Duties will vary and can include:

  • In collaboration with Operations Department Staff, Event Coordinators, and customers, temporary installation and/or removal of material required for individual events in accordance with event specifications (to include: staging, carpet, drape, tables, chairs, décor material, and other equipment)
  • Materials handling (shipping/ receiving) of tradeshow-related materials, sign installation and other services in accordance with event specifications
  • Monitoring of all building mechanical (lighting, temperature, electrical) for maintenance of facilities to ensure safety and comfort for all
  • Communication with co-workers and customers to ensure that all event requirements and event changes are completed to the customer’s satisfaction or passed on to the appropriate person to be addressed
  • General maintenance duties as assigned for upkeep of facilities and all property
  • Outdoor grounds maintenance duties as assigned. (Snow and ice removal, grounds sweeping, painting, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service
  • Must be a team player with proven ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with customers, co-workers and guests\
  • Be well organized and able to establish and set work priorities and deadlines
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Previous experience operating forklifts, bobcats, scissor lifts and tractors is preferred.
  • Must be physically fit and energetic including and have the ability to lift and move heavy objects

Sports On Tap Supervisor

Sports on Tap at Prairieland Park is hiring a full-time Supervisor.  Applicants must be available to work day, evening and weekend shifts.  Reporting to the Manager – Sports on Tap the Supervisors ensure that a high level of service and a great customer experience are provided.

Qualifications:

  • Successful applicants must have the Serve it Right course and be able to provide their completion certificate
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Must have a minimum of two years bar and restaurant experience including bartending and serving experience
  • Must have a strong commitment to customer service excellence
  • Must have the ability to communicate pleasantly and professionally with guests and co-workers
  • Be mature and dependable
  • Must be able to lift full kegs of beer (162 lbs.)
  • Must be self-motivated and driven

Prairieland is accepting applications, on a casual basis, for the following positions at SaskTel Centre and at Prairieland:

  • Ushers, Merchandise Sellers & Guest Services
  • Door Staff, Liquor Ticket Sellers, & Cashiers
  • Seasonal casual employment for different types of jobs (Glow move-in/move-out, coat check attendants, parking attendants, etc.)
